Is All Vinyl Siding the Same?

siding_yellow_house1When shopping for vinyl siding there are many things to consider. It’s not just simply a question of selecting your favorite color.  Many people are surprised to learn about the different features of vinyl siding, especially how vinyl siding can protect your home and save you money on your energy bills.  As you finish the process of siding shopping you want to make sure you have not only selected a product that is going to make your house the stunning one on your block, but also one that will stand the test of time, weathering all that Mother Nature has to throw at it.

Vinyl Siding in the New Millennium

Vinyl siding shopping in the 21st century is so much more fun than it was during the 1970s, 1980s, and even the 1990s. For so long, whenever someone would mention “vinyl siding’ everyone within ear shot would automatically imagine the sickly lime-green plastic wrapping associated with siding when it first came to be. Our customers are always amazed when we first show them samples of our Wood Impressions or Cedar Ridge vinyl siding.  Occasionally, we’ll have a little fun and ask them what they think of these new “shingles,” and then sit back and enjoy their facial expressions once they touch the sample and realize it’s actually vinyl.

Let Your Home Breathe Easy

Also important factor you need from your siding is how well insulated it will keep your home. While many types of siding might look pretty, you need to ask how well it will allow your house to breathe.  How well your house breathes is directly related to moisture management, which our Protec vinyl siding handles beautifully.  For example, RIHI’s Protec Cedar Ridge siding features Solid Core insulation with moisture ridges, as well as Smart Track moisture management system so that your house easily sheds any excess moisture.

When considering vinyl siding you of course want something durable.  Choosing a second-rate vinyl siding could leave you suffering with chipping and peeling problems.  Our customers need not to worry about issues such as these, since the TXL Lamination technology found within our Protec siding strengthens the bond by almost 200%. Speaking of durability, I could give you some numbers and percentages as to how strong our siding is, but I’d rather invite you to take a look at our siding page http://rihi.com/vinyl-siding/vinyl-siding-features/.  I’ll let the video of our siding staring down a baseball being shot from a cannon handle the talking for me.
