It’s not often we get to spend an entire week at one event, which is why we always look forward to the Barnstable County Fair. Nestled within a quiet cozy corner of Cape Cod, the BCF provides some of the most eclectic fun you’ll find in New England this summer. Since most of our summer events occur over the span of one weekend the Barnstable County Fair allows us to settle in and really get to know the people we chat with. You’ll find a stacked schedule of entertainment including live bands jamming well into the evening, the world’s largest demolition derby, a sea lion splash, and motocross daredevils chewing up dirt all over the fairgrounds—not to mention the RIHI Remote Team showcasing our composite replacement windows.
Spread out over one week beginning July 18 the Barnstable County Fair brings the sounds and scenes of summer to Cape Cod. One of those sounds will be the metal-on-metal crunching of the demolition derby. For those of you who reside in my advanced age bracket, I’m sure we all hope for a Pinky Tuscadero sighting and perhaps a Malachi Crunch or two. Back by popular demand this year the Sea Lion Splash makes its return to the fairgrounds. No one can keep from smiling once these lovable sea critters jump and slide into their act.
One thing the Fair will not be short on is live music. Each day will feature a variety of genres from country to pop to rock—including Sister Hazel on Friday night. Sister Hazel is a long way from their mid-90s hit tune “All for You,” but it’s nice to see bands railing against the one-hit-wonder label while still getting gigs twenty years after the fact.
